The Contraption

So we've received the plexi glass and we have pulleys to use (thanks to Mr. Hill). I'm getting the plywood, springs, and bars over the weekend at Home Depot.
We only need the adhesive.
So we were hoping that UMass could possible send us some PDMS so we could start out with that when we begin testing, which I hope will be soon.
Thanks

  1. Nasim, I am excited about the device, if UMASS gave you some PDMS adhesive at this weeks visit would that work? What sort of size/shape are you thinking?
    Thanks,

  2. It would be perfect if you could give us some PDMS on Friday. I'm updating the "Design" tab; it's a basic side-view of the design we're going to put together.
For the adhesive, it'll be a circular shape about 3-4 inches in radius. With other adhesives, like double-sided tape, we'd have to work with square shapes.
    Thank you so much,

  3. Nasim,
I recommend that you keep the adhesive size smaller than 3-4 inches. Larger adhesives will be more difficult to get into complete contact, you might want to start with 1-2 inches in diameter, its also less material.

  4. In my previous comment, I meant 3-4 inches in diameter*.
But what you said makes perfect sense and we'll definitely take your advice. Plus, it's easier to work with if the adhesive is smaller.
